The NHL is going outdoors Saturday night.
The Stadium Series has come to Raleigh, N.C., with the Hurricanes hosting the Capitals in this year's event.
Carter-Finley Stadium, the home of the N.C. State football team, is the site for the game. This is the first outdoor game in Hurricanes franchise history, while the Capitals are playing in their second Stadium Series game and fourth outdoor contest.
Carolina is one of the top teams in the league. It trails only the Bruins for best record and sits in first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Capitals are in the middle of the Metro and outside a playoff spot by one point entering play Saturday.
While the Capitals and Hurricanes have a number of star players, the biggest name will be absent. Washington's Alex Ovechkin won't play; he is still away from the team following the death of his father, Mikhail.
