Despite being underdogs at tipoff, the Detroit Pistons have since taken control of the game. Both teams are capable of winning, but they’re going nowhere against the Charlotte Hornets 3.
Detroit relies on shooting guard Rodney McGruder, who has three points, and point guard Killian Hayes, who has zero points. Charlotte has had no offensive standouts so far, with all players held to zero or fewer points.

Detroit @ Charlotte
Current Records: Detroit 15-46; Charlotte 19-43
The Charlotte Hornets were on the wrong side in a one-sided rivalry with the Detroit Pistons and are hoping for their first win since February 11 last year. Charlotte will host again and welcome Detroit to the Spectrum Center, where the pick is scheduled for Monday at 7:00 p.m. ET. Averaging 118.56 points per game, the Hornets have been sleeping on the defensive side of the ball and need to wake up before the contest.
Charlotte didn’t have much breathing room in their game against the Miami Heat last Saturday, but they still walked away with a 108-103 win. Small forward Gordon Hayward (21 points) and point guard LaMelo Ball (19 points) were the top scorers for Charlotte.
Meanwhile, the score was 44-44 at halftime, but Detroit wasn’t quite on par with the Toronto Raptors in the second half when they met last Saturday. It was close but no cigar for the Pistons as they lost 95-91 to the Raptors. The loss was just another heartbreak for Detroit, who have now lost three narrow games in a row to Toronto. Small forward Bojan Bogdanovic had quite a memorable game, playing for 28 minutes and four turnovers.
Charlotte is the favorite with an expected margin of 6.5 points to win. They are currently four against four against the spread in their recent games, a trend for bettors to be aware of.
Charlotte’s win lifted them to 19-43, while Detroit’s loss dropped them to an irreparable 15-46. In their win, the Hornets relied heavily on center Mark Williams, who hit a double-double on 20 boards and 18 points. Detroit has to find a way to minimize its influence if they want to win.
The Hornets are a solid 6.5-point favorite against the Pistons, according to the latest NBA odds.
The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line here as the game opened with the Hornets a 5.5-point favorite.
